steven gordon study: avalanche

this is a loose study based on a design for a character named Avalanche by Steven Gordon for the animated series 'x men evolution'. i really love the simplicity of gordon's designs. i've been pausing and gesture drawing my way through a few of the episodes.

i'm working to simplify my lines and shapes.

i am watching you do stuff.
magic 8 ball says this thesis concept sketch may get rejected but i really like it

sucks to be that guy. i like drawing characters in ridiculous and horrible situations with whom i can then sympathize with.

this is a really quick and messy sketch i did of my nephew but i like it because i caught him in this second when he was poised to paint but then suddenly got distracted. his head moved but everything else stayed totally frozen in position. he had a deathgrip on his paintbrush but his other hand held the paper down so carefully and delicately.

everything about his pose said '3 year old' to me.

oh jack i love you

another doug braithwaite study - wonder woommaaannn

study: doug braithwaite

digital painting is funny, sometimes i'm like 'man it's so much easier to get this colour i'm looking for' and sometimes i'm like 'where is this colour, if i could only just mix it by hand'

i'm suddenly interested in digital painting! it's a lot more crampy than regular painting but im also not used to holding the stylus thingie.

sentient object syndrome

This piece is part of a series entitled Stranger than Fiction, I've used retro and pulp fiction style imagery to explore contemporary neurological case studies revealing that actual science is even stranger than science fiction.

This piece is about Delusions of Sentient Companions: where the sufferer believes inanimate objects are sentient.. and sometimes BFFs!
