i'm doing a lot of painting recently. these studies both went in unintentional but pleasing directions.

these are some pencils for an assignment. there will also be 2 children in it and possibly a lil something-something in the background, but i'm drawing them separately. the idea is to ink the pieces and then assemble them in photoshop and then, ya know, colourize them and whatnot.

I'm trying to learn more about colour, been mixing colours from one side of the wheel to the other and stuff like that. Anyway! I just found this bibliodyssey post about The History of Colour. The whole colour/physics thing is... beyond me, but the charts sure are interesting to look at.

you know how i listen to this american life and cbc almost religiously? well i might have found something i like even more (i know!): radio lab.

a girl in class. i was trying not to overdraw the glasses. i like how faces are coming along, i'm getting better at indicating things rather than overwhelming the space with extra lines. i was thinking the other day about how drawing is like writing in that you want to "show" instead of "tell".

also, she does have legs, she just kept moving them. and from here on out im going to make more of an effort to draw people sitting on things.

i found a set of encyclopedia's from the 70s, i took O, Q, S, T.

one sketchbook page from tonight. i've noticed that i dont draw different types of people very often, got to remedy that.

also trying different types of drawing. my art prof is always talking about "soft edges" and "blurred edges" and "disappearing edges" so there's some of that around too.

to date, this is the probably the best realistic figure drawing i've done. now, to do better!

some silly thingie from tonight

yesterday kaley and i saw a man biking down the street playing an accordion. it was magical.

snap! here are 2 panels from a 4 panel sequential narrative thingie assignment where we had to illustrate a japanese folk story. they have to shrink down to like 3x3 or something ridiculous like that, to fit onto a box.

i'm still learning my way around computer programs.





someone kindly pointed out to me that she's holding the flute in a totally incorrect way - hilarious funny! i will sheepishly admit that it didn't even occur to me to check for proper flute-handlage, i got all involved with how i wanted the hands to look. duhr. oops.

the other day i saw a sign written in green marker that said "CHAMP, you are the best thing that ever happened to me. I'm sorry."

also, i found a perfectly good computer chair on the curb!

one of my neighbors has this elaborate bird house setup in her front yard and i really want to put up mini xmas decorations on the doors and around the little roofs in the middle of the night. its not reallypopular with the birds so i wont bother them.

not sure how to do it aside from going to a dollhouse store, which would be expensive. i also dont want to nail or permanently glue anything down so i dont get charged wtih birdhouse vandalism ;p. i have some ideas but still thinking.
